Túrós tészta is my ultimate comfort food. It’s kind of like the Hungarian version of mac and cheese but pretty different and in my opinion, way better. It’s really fast and easy to make and definitely a favorite for kids.
Ingredients (2-3 servings):
1 box/bag of the pasta of your choice
7-8 slices of bacon
4-5 spoonfuls of cottage cheese
3-4 spoonfuls of sour cream
Put lightly-salted water on to boil and meanwhile slice the bacon into little pieces. Add the pasta to the boiling water and fry the bacon in a pan until crispy. Strain the pasta and add it back into the pot. Add the cottage cheese and sour cream. Turn the heat on low and stir constantly until everything is heated through and melting together. Salt and pepper to taste. Put into bowls and serve the bacon on top.
(notes: I’ve been using DeBoles gluten free brown rice spirals, but most people use wide egg noodles to substitute the actual noodles that you would traditionally make from scratch. Delicious, but much more time consuming. I also recommend trying out the amazing Black Forest bacon I’ve been using from Whole Foods.)
